Current research topic: Research into the general health of prison officers in NSW. The study will compare the health of prison officers with that of the general community, and with previous prison officer health studies. Areas of study are drugs, alcohol and tobacco use in addition to general health, mental health, nutrition, exercise and workplace stress.

Research areas of interest: Health economics, economic evaluation, cannabis, illicit drugs, alcohol, outcome measures, discrete choice modelling.
Current research topic: This PhD research will use economics to assess policies for cannabis. Changes to the status of cannabis ranging from legalisation through to tougher enforcement of prohibition are frequently posed. This current work will attempt to estimate the current societal costs related to cannabis in NSW and investigate the economic costs and benefits of two alternate policy options using cost benefit analysis. It is expected that this study will improve the evidence-base for policy decision-making in all jurisdictions in Australia.

Current research topic: This Phd research will be using a triangulation of data sources to determine the epidemiology and detection rate for alcohol-related emergency department attendances. This will include investigating routine data sources, medical record audits, emergency department staff surveys and patient interviews. It is expected that this research will provide more insight into the epidemiology of alcohol-related emergency department attendances and areas where improvements can be made in its clinical detection and management.

Current research topic: The Impact of Muscle Fatigue on Motion Balance Control and Gait Pattern
Physical inactivity and sedentary lifestyle-induced diseases are paralyzing the health systems of both the developed and developing world, and destroying the quality of life for the countless. Such an unprecedented global health crisis has spurred my passion for and keen research interest in physical activity and exercise medicine for public health.
My Ph.D research focuses on motor control, neuromuscular fatigue mechanism and human motion equilibrium in the broad context of physical activity for public health.
My recent paper on exercise intervention for falls prevention in collaboration with Professor Ehrlich has been published in Bold, a Quarterly Journal of International Institute on Aging, United Nations.
