    Selection for Admission

Selection for admission to all post Graduate Programs is based on the information supplied in the application. The School Selection Committee considers this - usually within four weeks of receiving an application. Successful applicants will be notified by letter of the appropriate acceptance and enrolment procedures. Once the acceptance and deposit is received, a confirmation of offer will be mailed to the applicant. This is required in order to commence application for a student visa.

    English Requirements

Applicants who have not completed a degree in which English was the language of instruction in the two years previous to commencement at UNSW, are required to provide proof of their competence in English. You may do this by presenting results from an accepted test. Your test score will not be valid if the test was taken more than two years before the commencement of your course.

Students whose first language is not English, or who have not undertaken a degree where the language of instruction was English, are required to demonstrate their English competency by undertaking a recognised test of their English language ability. Please see the
UNSW English Requirements Policy for details of accepted tests and required scores.

    Visa Requirements

All students who are not Australian citizens or permanent residents require a visa before entry to Australia. New Zealand citizens are not required to have a student visa.

The Acceptance Advice form duly authorized by the University certifying that the minimum deposit has been paid, together with the offer letter, form the basis of the student visa application. The Acceptance Advice Form will not be issued without evidence that the applicant has met the English language requirement. Additionally, Australian Embassies and Consulates may require a health check before issuing the visa. In any case, students are advised to contact their nearest Australian Diplomatic Post without delay.
