In order to more effectively manage the number of grant proposals and ethics approvals that come through the Head of Schools' office for certification it has become necessary to amend internal SPHCM deadlines and procedures.
All funding proposals and ethics approvals requiring certification from the Head of School should be submitted at least 5 working days prior to the advised internal UNSW deadline. This is not intended to make the process more bureaucratic, but rather to ensure that all proposals for funding are responded to in a timely and efficient manner. Advance notice of your intention to apply under a funding scheme and / or draft versions of protocols and proposals are always welcome and will ensure your final draft is processed more quickly.
Please find attached a flow-chart detailing the procedure for submitting funding proposals (and associated paperwork) for certification by the Head of School, a copy of the SPHCM Infrastructure Requirements form and a calendar of upcoming deadlines for major research funding schemes (Jan-June). For future reference these will also soon be available from the
School website.
We would also strongly encourage you to seek advice directly from Research Services regarding funding schemes and University policies and deadlines in relation to these. Research Services have recently updated their website, which includes a wealth of information about finding funding, administering research projects, ethics etc. Visit them at:
http://www.researchservices.unsw.edu.au/. Please note that the RA1 and RA2 forms available from the website have recently been amended. Please refer to the guidelines when completing these. A reminder - the RA1 form must be completed at the time of submitting your funding proposal.
