Design Process
The planning process for the development of the new Medicine program had several unique features -
- Early and sustained emphasis on development of a conceptual framework before considering implementation detail.
- Iterative and extensive consultation processes.
- Wide engagement of Faculty staff across all sites and levels of appointment.
- Concurrent Faculty development for the new program embedded in the planning process per se.
Planning started with a small group of staff interested in education who were prepared to think creatively, be open to new ideas, and not rush to develop a finished product quickly. Much of the ongoing design and implementation work is being accomplished by multi-disciplinary working parties, some of which have evolved into more formal Faculty committees.
The Program was assessed by the
Australian Medical Council (AMC) during 2003, and accreditation has been granted until 2011.
