Postgraduate Research Programs
The postgraduate research programs offered by the Faculty involve a student undertaking an investigative project under the supervision of an academic. The investigation will culminate in the submission of a thesis that amongst other things, records the student's research methods, findings and results.
Application Process
To apply for a place in the postgraduate research program, please follow the steps listed below:
- Check out the Faculty's entry criteria.
- Identify, contact and sought supervision agreement from a researcher within the Faculty listed here. Or you may check for available scholarships and projects here
- Apply online via myUNSW.
- Compile the following* for submission to the Graduate Research School (this is the University's governing body for all postgraduate research students)
- Evidence of support from the proposed supervisor; a letter or trail of email contact will suffice.
- A nomination by the proposed supervisor of a co- or joint-supervisor.
- A research project title.
- A research proposal (maximum of 2 pages).
- A CV.
- Evidence of research done.
Application deadlines now apply. The applications are due at the Graduate Research School by:
- 30 December for admission into Session 1 in the following year
- 30 May for admission into Session 2
Late applications will be assessed for admission in the following Session.
From application assessment to enrolment
The application is only active if an online application has been lodged and supporting documents have been submitted to the Graduate Research School.
Once the supporting documents have been received, the application will be assessed by the review committee. Delays will only occur if the supporting documents are lacking in the information
*required. When this happens, either the supervisor or applicant will be contacted for clarification.
If an application has been approved for admission, the applicant will be made an offer which may be accepted online. The acceptance will then be followed by an enrolment form which must be completed to finalise entry into the postgraduate research program.
